PRAIRIE MAGIC MUSIC FESTIVAL 2020 CELEBRATES WOMEN IN THE ARTS

Porter County Parks & Recreation’s summer music festival is taking a new direction: this year’s Prairie Magic Music Festival will celebrate women in the arts.

Now in its fifth year, this community event will feature four talented women performers and their bands in the lineup.

“The official line-up will be announced on March 8, International Women’s Day,” said Madison Binkowski, Events and Rentals Coordinator at Porter County Parks & Recreation.

Women-owned and women-run businesses will bring local food trucks to feed concert goers. In between sets, local organizations will provide free resources for women and local vendors will make their products available for sale. Businesses and organizations can find information on vending and participating at the music festival at portercountyparks.org/prairie.

Prairie Magic Music Festival 2020 will take place at Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Liberty Township, Porter County on Aug. 8. The performances start at 1 p.m. but gates will open at noon.

“I am so excited for this year’s fifth anniversary of Prairie Magic to celebrate women in the arts,” Binkowski said. “This event is going to be full of great music by talented women musicians and lots of fun, and at the same time we are going to be supporting the local businesswomen that will be vendors at the festival. It makes planning this experience both exciting and meaningful.”

Prairie Magic Musical Festival is a celebration of rock, Americana and blues music, and will provide food vendors, a beer garden, free water on-site all day and children’s activities at the music festival. Last year, Los Lobos came to Sunset Hill Park to headline the music festival.

Porter County Parks & Recreation will announce the official talent lineup for the event, the poster artist and other information on March 8, International Women’s Day. Ticket sales will also go live on March 8.
