Mission and Vision

The mission of the Porter County Board of Parks and Recreation is “To preserve, protect, and manage the natural, cultural and recreational resources within our diverse park system.”

The vision of the department staff and board is “To deliver youth, adult and school programs to all residents of Porter County, while also providing a gateway into the natural beauty of our area through its unique parks and trails.”

Park Board

The Porter County Park Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic development and management of Porter County Parks. The Park Board meets the first Thursday of every month at 6 pm in the Porter County Administration Building. Meetings are open to the public and all are welcome. 

At present, the Board is comprised of the following individuals:

Porter County Parks Foundation

The Porter County Parks Foundation holds property and funds the development and programming of public lands and parks within Porter County. It is committed to public education in matters of conserving agriculture, maintaining land as a natural resource, and the practice of creating and supporting a sustainable environment—all in a publicly accessible park and recreational environment.

The Foundation’s primary function is to raise money through solicitation, grants, and public events while striving for tax accountability. These monies support land acquisition, programming, and scholarships for the further development of public programs.

STAFF

Multimedia Policy
On occasion, Parks & Recreation staff may take photos, video, or other recordings of participants in our parks and/or programs. Please be aware that this multimedia is only for parks and recreation department use and may be used in future print publications, on our website, social media and other mediums. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Cancellation Policy
A 100% refund will be given if a participant cancels their registration at least five (5) working days prior to the first class. No refund will be allowed after this time.  A full refund will be given if the Parks & Recreation Department cancels a class for any reason. This policy does not apply to Camp FUNset.

If you require special assistance in order to participate in any of our programs, please contact us.  We will do our best to provide you with whatever assistance you need.
